Slalom Pro Chassis
The chassis is made from lightweight Aluminium in an oval shape, its weight without the wheels is just 8kgs. The wheels have a quick release system and smart aluminum look, low profile pneumatic tyres and a compact pump is found in the shopping basket.
Adjustable suspension on the rear wheels will ensure baby has a comfortable ride whatever the terrain. The 273mm diameter wheels have a simple quick release to make the fold very compact. On the front easy-steer mono fork wheel you will find a powerful disc brake correcting your speed while travelling downhill, this is controlled by a handle brake lever, the main parking brakes are applied with a single foot pedal. The front wheel can be used as a swivel wheel while in town but if you wish to travel over sand or gravel or maybe woodland paths it can easily be locked into a fixed forward position.
Under the chassis you will find a small shopping basket with reflective accents for additional safety on winter evenings.
The handle has 4 adjustments to suit most people comfortably, and the catches to release the chassis locks for folding are found as the handle bar meets the hood, saving unnecessary bending.
Pro System
The new Pro system is the way that any additional parts are fixed to the chassis, when the bumper bar is removed from the chassis it reveals two large holes that allows the simple one-handed fitting and locking into place of the Jane Capazo Carrycot, Strata car seat, or the Matrix Cup lie flat car seat. These can be purchased at the same time as the Slalom or purchased separately as your needs change.
Slalom Pro Seat unit
The seat unit can be fully reclined for a newborn and the footplate can be adjusted to a comfortable position for baby or toddler. You will find a full 5-point harness for security and a bumper bar for your toddler to hang on to while you are travelling at speed. The new winter hood covers more of the child's body, not only good for winter but as a sun shade during the summer, the back panel can be removed to give a constant flow of fresh air while still giving sun protection from above.
All the fabric is removable for washing or if you are using the chassis with the Capazo carrycot, protecting the fabrics until they are required.
The seat is sufficiently wide to accommodate a toddler wearing the thickest of winter clothing and a comfortable 100% cotton seat pad has been included to ensure total comfort.
Matrix Baby Car Seat or Lie Flat Car Cot
Matrix cup infant carrier, suitable from birth either sat-up as a car seat or lying flat as a car cot.
We are becoming more aware that babies should not be sat upright in a car seat for long periods, with this in mind, this Jane Infant carrier can be used in two ways, as a flat cot across the back of the car, taking up 2 seats, or rear facing in an upright seating position using just one seat.
Upright
In the upright position baby will face the back of the car, if used in the front the air bag must be de-activated to prevent serious injury, or even death. Ideally it will be placed in the rear of the car with a mirror above for easy safe visual checks by the front seat passengers. The Matrix Cup sits at 130 degrees; the enfolding structure also provides protection from side impacts.When used in this way the seat is in the group 0 taking baby up to 10kgs in weight around 11 months.
Baby has a three point harness with a single pull adjustment ensuring the harness is always at the correct tension whatever clothing baby is wearing.
Lie flat
When used as a lie flat infant carrier the cot is placed across the back seats, taking up two available seats and using two adult 3 point seat belts. The cot lies at 180 degrees reclined, with the 3 point harness securing baby in place.
The cot is classed as a group 0 this is safe until baby is 10kg this is around 11 months. Baby can travel for longer periods in this flat position than sitting up in traditional car seat mode, so maybe this could be the answer if friends and family live long distances away, giving the versatility of an up right seat for local short trips and the cot for longer journeys, although you may find as we did, that the seat can be very upright for a newborn baby.
