Bebe Confort Guides:
Buggies
Bebe Confort, a French babycare company, make buggies and pushchairs with a difference - they have personality. Bebe Confort have a sensational research and development team consisting of real parents with real children, and this comes through in the functionality of their buggies.
This commitment to research and development, coupled with the French design (about which more in a moment), is what defines Bebe Confort. The name of the company means ‘baby comfort’ in French, and you only have to look at one of their buggies to see how far this philosophy of comfort extends – you almost want to sit in it yourself, the chairs look that comfy.
Excelling & Advancing
But it’s the style where Bebe Confort really excels. They produce some of the best looking pushchairs on the market. Using brushed aluminium and dark, rich fabrics, Bebe Confort’s buggies look strong and purposeful. The French heritage of the company affords them a little liberty in the design of their products, and they take those design liberties without becoming clichéd or ridiculous. Their styling is refined, sophisticated even; and you can tell the difference between Bebe Confort’s European styling and the more commercial, characterless designs of the American conglomerates, even from a distance.
It’s ok looking good, but when you have a newborn child you’ll quickly learn that good looks aren’t enough – what you really need are brains… and brawn. Bebe Confort buggies have it all in abundance. Let’s talk about the brains first.
Brainy Buggies
Bebe Confort’s revolutionary concept was that each of their pushchairs need to be several products in one, and to serve multiple purposes while respecting the fact that it needs to adapt to the changing shape of the child occupant, growing with them as they go. Normally, to do all this, a buggy would need to be ludicrously complex chassis, involving folding mechanisms and sub-mechanisms, and with each new mechanism comes the increased risk of failure – there’s more to go wrong if you have an over-complicated system. Therefore, Bebe Confort developed a system which requires just one clip. One clip, to perform all these functions; that was their genius, and that’s what makes them such a popular brand with young parents.
This means that you don’t need to invest in three different mobility products to cope with your child’s growth; Bebe Confort’s buggies are designed to accommodate your child’s growth. Taking the best-selling Loola as an example – though many of Bebe Confort’s buggies are designed along similar lines – it can be used as a carrycot from birth to around six months, so your baby can lie comfortably on their back and sleep. During this time, it can also be used as a secure car seat. After around seven months of age, it can be used as a conventional buggy until your child is a toddler and has outgrown it. What’s more, the seat unit can be forward facing or rear facing so they can see the world around them or look into your reassuring eyes as you scoot around town. That’s three different products in one.
Buggy Brawn
Now for the brawn. These buggies aren’t light, there’s no getting around it. The chasses alone are around 6kg, so with the seat unit attached they’re noticeably heavy. But what does that suggest? It suggests that a lot of robust materials went into the manufacture of these buggies, they’re not simply glued together from bits left over from shopping trolleys and hand-me-downs from older models now out of production. Bebe Confort design and make each part of the buggies themselves; they don’t source the parts they need from other factories. The wheels for example are exclusive to Bebe Confort; you won’t find them on any other product in the world because they were designed and made to Bebe Confort’s high standards.
A buggy is only as strong as its weakest component. That’s why each of the components on a Bebe Confort buggy is unique – by allowing no weak links in the chain the buggies remain strong and robust. The wheels are large enough to roll over objects easily, and they’re wide for stability. The cross bars are strong and there are no exposed corners or joints to injure curious hands.
The Eye of the Beholder?
But Bebe Confort’s biggest selling point is undoubtedly its styling. While you obviously want all the practicality and engineering genius, you also want to look cool. We think you might be able to compare Bebe Confort buggies to the big 4x4s which are so popular at the moment – the buggies are large, comfortable, spacious, controllable, durable, and above all, they look great, just like a big 4x4. what’s more, just like those 4x4s, Bebe Confort buggies are envied by anyone who doesn’t have on. There is one difference though; the 4x4 doesn’t necessarily make the school run any easier. Bebe Confort’s buggies do.
So if you want to surround your baby in luxurious French fashion and continental style, secure in the knowledge that the buggy you’ve bought will last until your child doesn’t need it anymore, than you can’t go wrong with a Bebe Confort pushchair.
