This lovely and unique baby blanket is part of the Precious Protechtor range of products from new British company Baby Pink or Blue, based in Scotland.

The company was set up by friends Lisa Ballantine and Nicola Wilson who wanted to offer parents of premature and newborn babies products that could help protect tiny babies from infections. The idea was conceived after Nicola's newborn son had caught an infection and spent the first week of his life in a Special Care Baby Unit. Happily he recovered, but Lisa and Nicola realised there were few, if any, products that could help keep very young babies safe from infection.

Fabric

The Precious Protechtor baby blanket is made from an innovative, new textile that has undergone extensive research and testing and is completely chemical free. The fabric is made using so-called 'nano technology' and allows the naturally occurring metal silver to be incorporated into the material. Silver has natural antibacterial properties which kill viruses, and it is one of the safest substances for babies and has no side effects. This fabric can help reduce the risk of catching Staphylococcus Aureus, including MRSA, E Coli and Klebsiella Pneumonia.

Thermo regulation

This wonderfully soft and cuddly brushed fabric is not only anti-bacterial, but also has a thermo regulation system which moves moisture away from the skin to the outer layer of the fabric. The fabric then dries faster than normal materials. So baby's skin stays warm and dry, with no moisture pockets developing in the blanket around them.

Care

The blanket can be machine washed, using your normal washing powder or liquid. Washing will not affect the anti-bacterial properties of the fabric. It is not necessary to use any softener as the fabric is very soft already, but it is perfectly safe to do so if you wish. The blanket can be air dried, or tumble dried on a 'delicate fabrics' setting.

Use

The blanket is perfect for everything from swaddling, bedtime, trips in the car or the supermarket trolley.

It is available in pink, white and blue.
