Travel Cots

When looking at travel cots the thing that may need to be considered is where you intend to use it the most, if you are planning to use it abroad and you intending to fly you will need to think of weight, many airlines now weigh all luggage, so it is worth checking the weights of travel cots before you purchase. On the other hand if you are planning on taking your travel cot in the car, size would be your main consideration.

Some travel cots can double up as playpens these will usually have an extra set of legs in the middle to give extra stability and will be described as such.

Travel Cot Styles

If the travel cot is to be used in a certain place regularly it would be worth checking out which size would be best, some are square while others are cot shaped if you are wishing to add a mattress, it would be worth choosing one that will take a standard mattress for ease of replacement.

Some travel cots have a set of wheels on one end this would mean that if you needed to be able to move the cot as you manoeuvre around a small room this can be done quickly and easily. Some travel cots fold easier than others, so if is to be assembled by a grandparent on a regular basis it maybe worth choosing a slightly bulkier style with an easier folding action.

Most bases are a solid board with a thin foam covering if you are wishing to give little one more comfort it would be worth thinking about a lambskin this will give a comfortable layer of padding (you do not get any pressure points while on a pure lambskin) it will also regulate temperature the fibres will keep baby cool and dry in the heat but will be warm in winter.

Pop-Up Travel Cots

Travel cots are also available in pop-up styles. These come in a range of sizes designed to take a newborn to around six months then another from six months. Pop up cots are ideal for trips to the beach or out on picnics, some also have optional U.V. protection covers to zip in.

Pop up cots are all very lightweight; having either having no metal framework at all or a lightweight aluminium tent style push-through framework, all folding into the small carrybag included.
