Techno Buggy
The Techno XLR has a basic weight of just 7.4kg / 16.3lbs (without accessories added) and is capable of turning easily into a useful parent and baby friendly travel system. Maclaren have teamed-up with the Recaro car seat company from Germany manufacturers of the Young Profi infant car seat, this seat is unique in that the newborn baby can lie in a very flat position but as they grow the seat grows with them, changing the seating to a comfortable upright position. When the car seat is not in place on the buggy, the buggy can be used in the normal way without the nuisance of a front car seat support bar getting in the way. The Techno XLR has 4 recline positions, extendable calf support and can be used for your newborn, this gives baby the chance to stretch-out, strongly recommended if you are to be out for any length of time as baby can breath more easily, digest food easier and the head is on soft quilted fabric rather than the solid backrest (adding a lamb skin seat liner would help further).
The aluminium chassis of the Techno XLR can be umbrella folded, in just 5 seconds using just one hand, once folded a convenient carry handle can be found on the side. The front swivel wheels can be locked into position to allow the buggy to pass over rough terrain; suspension has been fitted to ensure a comfortable ride, linked brakes on the back wheels will keep the buggy safe when parked, a shopping basket and rain cover has been included to complete this package. A colour co-ordinated fabric reversable seat liner is included – this can easily be machine washed, a footmuff lined with warm fleece can be purchased as an optional extra for additional warmth and protection during the winter months. The Techno XT has a large hood with UV protected viewing window, the fabric will protect baby from the effects of the sun with enough fabric to protect the sleeping child’s head and neck. The seat fabric can be removed from the buggy for washing; the edges of the fabric have been finished with reflective material for added safety during the dark evenings.
Young Profi Car Seat
The shell of the Young Profi Plus baby car seat has been designed to be lightweight and easy to carry while offering the most adjustable, comfortable seat for baby.
The seating position for the newborn baby is almost flat with plenty of padding and support for baby’s head.
As baby grows the backrest is gradually raised - this will rise beyond the original shell of the seat - extending the length of time the seat can be used - as the back rises the harness is also adjusted to the optimum level to protect baby. The harness can be easily tightened for each journey with the one-pull adjuster and the 5-point harness has pads to keep the harness comfortable on baby’s chest.
The seat is fitted in the car rearward facing using the 3 point adult seat belts. Preferably in the rear seats of the car.
A double thickness fabric hood is designed to give protection from UV and will stop street lights from shining in baby’s face. A raincover and insect net are available as accessories as is the Isofix fitting base.
With the additional base you will be able to simply and easily place the Young Profi in the car for each outing without the need to fiddle with seat belts. The base can be used for both the first stage car seat and the second stage Young Expert from Recaro.
The base simply clicks onto the Isofix fittings that are in many new cars, although you will need to check that they are fitted to your car as many handbooks refer to them, but they may be an option at the time the car was purchased new, Isofix fixings cannot be retro fitted.
