Simple Zip-up Vest Adjusting Adult Car Seat Belts

A grandfather has designed this Protecavest when he found that he was spending too much time looking in the rear view mirror checking that the grandchildren had the car seat belt correctly positioned.

The children were complaining that the seat belts were coming across their faces or cutting into their necks, so to stop this the children were tucking the seat belts under their arms, this effectively turns the safe 3-point seat belt into a dangerous lap strap, during an impact the body is thrown forwards causing the spine to become exposed and vulnerable possibly catching the spinal cord during recoil.

The lightweight Protectavest is simply worn over clothing, it has clips on the shoulders and one on each hip, the adult 3-point seat belts from any vehicle are guided through one of the shoulder clips and across the hips, this will stop the seat belt from becoming uncomfortable without restricting movement, the child is fully protected, even while sleeping.

Should the seat belts need to be removed during an emergency the belt is unclipped in the normal way and the vest is simply ripped from the child, the side seams are fitted with Velcro.

This vest does not replace a booster seat with a back that will also offer side protection, but is a solution for the centre of the car where a third booster cannot be fitted, for use on occasional trips and is perfect for holidays and outings to the city as it can be used in coaches and taxies, while fitting neatly in your handbag.

The vest can be used with booster seats if the seat belt is uncomfortable.
