Baby Car Seats & Carrycots

There are a number of 1st stage car seats, otherwise known as infant carriers, which are compatible with a range of chassis' -turning a pushchair, buggy or pram into a travel system. It will be necessary to check compatibilities of each chassis with each car seat and, most importantly, the car seat with your vehicle. There are now lie flat car seats that fit in a car rearward facing but recline to a flat position for early months travel, when mounted on a pram chassis they give an option of a reclined or upright sitting position.

Carcots & Carrycots

There are now carrycots that are designed for use with a pram chassis that are also tested and safe to be used in the car, baby can travel in a safe lie-flat position across the back seat, baby is held in place by a harness and the carcot held securely by the car's seat belts.

This configuration allows you to travel for longer periods at a time before needing to lift baby out to stretch, as this position puts no pressure on the baby's lungs or digestive system.

Carrycot

Carrycots are offered by a number of manufacturers and can be added to a chassis to form a pram, you will need to check with each manufactures instructions as to whether baby can sleep in the carrycot overnight, some have ventilation holes and a safety mattress, others are of a solid construction and are supplied with a comfort mattress, some do not advise over night sleeping.
