The Little Helper’ from Funpod has been designed to allow the child to share time in the kitchen with the adult without having to balance on a chair. The FunPod is an enclosed space that can be adjusted in height to ensure the youngster can reach the worktop with the top of the pod at chest height. The child can then be included in the kitchen chores, using the worktop space for drawing, cooking, painting even washing-up. When the adult is moving around the kitchen the child is safely away from getting under your feet causing a potential hazard. Each year in the UK over 42,000 toddlers between 0 months and 4 years attend hospital due to kitchen related accidents.
When using the FunPod it is important to clear the surface of any potential hazards like knives, flexes, electrical appliances etc. the child can then enjoy working at the same level without the risk of falling, when standing on a chair when reaching the chair often moves away from the surface.
The FunPod was designed by a family who themselves nearly had an accident in the kitchen with a hot pan involving their own toddler. During a meal with friends came-up with the solution of a wooden surround into which the child could be placed out of harms way, but at the right height to be included in the fun of cooking but needing to provide a safe stable environment.
