Cuddlewrap Swaddling Blanket
Tiny babies love to be swaddled. The feeling imitates the tight hug of the womb environment and gives them the sense of security that they need in the early weeks after their birth.
This beautifully soft swaddling blanket from Baby Sense is perfect for a new baby. The Cuddlewrap is made from 100% stretchy white cotton, with coloured trim and the pink and blue Baby Sense logo on one corner. The fabric is lightweight, to prevent baby becoming overheated.
The blanket is specially shaped for wrapping, with a curved neck area so that baby’s arms can be held near to the face. (Instructions on how to use the blanket are included on the packaging.)
The blanket is machine washable at 40 degrees celcius.
It is available in three colours; chenille pink, chenille blue and chenille stone.
Benefits of swaddling:
· Helps sleep. New babies who are swaddled often sleep longer and better than babies who are not. Swaddling holds them firmly but not too tightly, reassuring them and imitating the deep hug of their last days in the womb. Very young babies can often wake themselves up with the ‘startle relex’, when they arms shoot out to the sides. Swaddling holds a baby’s arms close to their body, preventing the relex action, and so allowing them to sleep better.
· Reduces crying. The deep pressure from swaddling helps to calm a crying baby, because the cosy and snug feeling is reassuring and familiar. Swaddling can often help a colicky baby.
· Helps baby to feed. Babies who are not naturally good feeders often struggle or wriggle at the breast. Swaddling helps to calm them, keeping their arms secure, allowing baby to feed better, taking more coordinated sucks and swallows.
The Baby Sense products are based around the best selling book Baby Sense by Megan Faure and Ann Richardson. The book focuses on ways to create a happy, secure and calm baby. The book is available from Olivers Babycare.
