Cot Blankets
As we are all aware it is important to ensure that your baby does not overheat, so when choosing blankets it is a good idea to have several thin blankets rather than one thick heavy one. Being able to add or take away one layer at a time means your child's temperature can be more easily monitored.
A room thermometer will also assist you in deciding how many layers are needed.
Cotton Blankets
Cotton cellular blankets are generally the recommended choice; these are soft for baby and easily laundered in the machine. While baby is small each blanket can be folded in half giving, in effect, two layers. If baby is going straight into their cot it would be worth considering a cot divider, this spans the width of the cot reducing its length and ensuring baby does not wriggle down under the covers to possibly overheat.
Baby blankets come in a size to fit - pram, crib, carrycot or moses basket. The larger sizes fit the cot and cotbed. Zorbit offer one size to fit both, while Lollipop Lane produce a cot and a cotbed size.
