Neck Pillows
Neck pillows come in a range of sizes to fit babies from newborn, to around 12 years. The newborn cushions are usually fitted under babies chin, keeping the head from lolling forwards in the infant car seat, this is often due to the shape of your vehicles seats, rather than the style of the infant carrier. The infant carriers that conform to the latest ECE 44 regulation have to keep baby at a reclined angle, much flatter than that of older styles. The ECE 44 are the only infant carriers that can legally be used in the UK. Older seats should be destroyed and replaced with a new infant carrier to ensure baby has the optimum protection in the car.
Another way of levelling an ECE44 regulation seat that still sits at too steep an angle would be to use the Sunshine Kids Car Seat Leveller. This fits against the back of the car seat, cut to fit between the seatbelt fastenings, the infant carrier is then placed on top at a more comfortable angle, stopping babies head from lolling forward without compromising the infant carriers safety.
Child Neck Pillows
These will give support to the head and neck while the child sleeps, it is important that a sleeping child stays in the correct position in the car, with the seat belt across the shoulder, a neck pillow may help this. If your child still falls out of the seatbelt, a booster with a back on may be a better solution - these fit children up to 5 feet tall - or maybe, a Thomson Protectavest ,this is a waistcoat style jacket that has clips to hold the diagonal seatbelt in exactly the right place at all times.
It is law for all children to be placed in an appropriate car seat or booster seat for their weight until 12 years or 135cm tall.
