Travel System Pushchairs
The idea of the travel system came to the UK from the USA and are defined as a pram or buggy combined with a first stage car seat/ infant carrier.
When buying a travel system it is important to remember that your baby should not be in the car seat for longer than two hours without being lifted out and allowed to stretch, this will give their lungs a chance to fully inflate. The car seat has to be of a solid construction to give the protection needed during an impact in a car accident, but recent research has shown that this can have a detrimental effect on the shape of a baby's head if left in the seat too long so travel systems are not recommended for parents who use their prams for long periods of time.
Combination Buggy & Child Seat
When choosing your travel system, the first check must be that the car seat/infant carrier is compatible with your car or cars. There should never be an incident of you choosing a travel system because you like the look of it without first gaining an assurance that the car seat fits safely.
If your car journeys are often longer than an hour and half duration, maybe a travel system that includes a lie flat infant carrier or car cot would be a safer choice for your baby. When making regular short trips, possibly collecting older children from school, travel systems maybe the best and easiest pram.
