Baby Toys
The first toys for baby either need to stimulate baby by sound or by sight with bright bold and symmetrical patterns.

Once baby gets to around 8 weeks their field of vision will have grown and developed, so watching mobiles either above the cot or changing mat will intrigue baby.
Rattles & Play Mats
Baby will soon be able to grasp light weight rattles which will be shaken and give great delight. Wrist and ankle rattles will give baby sound reward for movement - encouraging leg kicking and hand waving.
Tummy toys are played with while lying on the floor or play mat face down - this will help with the development of neck muscle strength, the babies neck needs to strengthen before they are able to sit unaided.
Once baby can sit then toys become more educational than previously, with shape sorters, stacking rings and action and reward toys.
