Baby Bedding Accessories

There are a number of accessories available to make life safer or easier for baby and yourself.

Baby Foam Wedges

Baby wedges help to keep baby in the correct position as recommended by your midwife or health visitor. These are generally made from foam and can be in the simple shape of a wedge or even in a cuddly toy shape. They fit together using Velcro straps allowing you to lie baby in the preferred position and no that when you return they will still be in that position, giving reassurance that baby is always safe during the sleeping period.

Cat Nets

A cat net will fit completely over the cot, crib or cot bed with a large gauge netting preventing your cat from being able to walk over the cot or crib and settling on or inside. Unfortunately the warmest place is on baby's head so if your cats decide that that's the place to sleep chances are you will find it on the head of the baby. You should not take any chances.

An alternative to a cat net would be closing the door - but if the cat has managed to sneak in before you noticed than the risks are even higher with the door closed.

Insect Nets

Insect nets are available to fit cots, cot beds and of course travel cots. They are made of a very fine net and will completely cover the cot or travel cot keeping all flying insects out. This can be ideal for holidays where there is more instance of flying insects and mosquitoes, causing discomfort to your baby.

Muslin Squares

Using a muslin under baby's head can help to cut down your wash load. This can be easily removed, without changing the complete cot you can easily make a clean place for baby's head.

Cot Mattress Protectors

This can come in a range of shapes and sizes and will protect your mattress from any little accidents. They are recommended to protect the mattress and make washing much easier. Most mattresses do have a removable cover but this would mean that you cannot use the mattress while the cover is being laundered, if this happens to be in the middle of the night it can cause a problem. So a mattress protector is a must.
