Raincovers, Parasols & Sun Protection

With the British weather, whatever pram, buggy, backpack or even infant carrier you choose you will need to have adequate rain and wind protection. Most prams and buggies have a cover designed specifically for that model. However, if you need a replacement if the cover gets damaged or after that model has been discontinued, Supercover produce a full range of universal rain covers to fit almost any pram, pushchair or buggy.

Many raincovers are throw-over making them compact enough to be folded and fitted into the shopping basket of the buggy. A few still have a frame - these fold back easier when not in use, but are bulkier to store.

It is important to always fold a rain cover back when indoors as it can soon get quite hot inside the buggy with the cover down.

Rain Covers For Backpack Child Carriers

Many backpacks have a framed rain cover; these will often double up to form a sunshade to protect baby or toddler during the sunnier months.

Sun Protection

Over the last few years we have all become far more aware of the dangers from the sun and protecting very young skin can be a problem, as many sun creams cannot be used until 6 months.

There are now a number of solutions to the problem, many invented by mums worrying about their own children. We have always used P.20 - applied carefully it has protected us even in the most intense sun.

Sun Visors

A sun visor will extend the coverage area of the pram or buggy's hood, extending out to protect feet and legs with some side coverage too. Made from soft fabrics with high UV protection qualities they are easy to attach to the pram or buggy and compact when folded.

Mesh Screens

These are a complete cover over the frontal area of your pram or buggy and not only will they reduce the amount of UV passing through to baby but also keep out flying insects.

Sun Parasols

Parasols are available in a full range of colours either universal fit or specific to particular prams, although the protection from UV is limited, they do help keep direct sun off baby.
