Like everything else that your baby is experiencing, play develops gradually. Towards the end of the first year their exploration of toys begins, coming to a peak between 5 and six years.

At first your baby will enjoy examining and exploring. The first baby toys should have various textures, colours and sounds, as they get older children use their imagination to breathe life into their toys, imagining that they are able to talk, eat and feel like themselves.

In our toy section you will find toys to meet all the developmental needs of your baby for the first couple of years. These will be toys that will improve your baby and toddler's co-ordination, manipulation and mental processes.

Stimulating Mobiles

Mobiles will stimulate young babies long before they can sit and hold toys. Baby can be placed under the mobile - maybe in their cot, on a play mat or changing mat with the mobile above them.

Play mats with bright colours, textures, sometimes sounds give a hygienic, safe place to lay baby when first playing on the floor. Play mats are especially useful to carry with you when visiting friends, as they will also protect carpets from unexpected accidents and keep your baby entertained throughout the day.
